Residual Income & Relationship Building

Unlike many youth employment programs, StreetsU teaches participants how successful businesses create recurring revenue through long-term customer relationships.

Each business or nonprofit a participant recruits becomes part of their personal client portfolio while they remain an active participant in the program.

How It Works

– Earn $30 for every new business or nonprofit you successfully recruit and register in an IBSA online business directory.
– Approximately one year later, meet with that same business owner to review their listing, answer questions, make updates if needed, and renew their annual directory membership.
– Earn another $30 renewal commission for each business that renews through your efforts while you are actively participating in the StreetsU program.
– Continue building relationships with your clients each year and increase your recurring annual income.

This process teaches customer service, relationship management, professionalism, and the importance of earning repeat business.

Why Annual Renewals Matter

Successful businesses understand that keeping existing customers is just as important as finding new ones.

By revisiting business owners throughout the year, participants learn to:

– Build long-term professional relationships
– Practice customer service and account management
– Strengthen communication and networking skills
– Update business information and promotions
– Help businesses maximize the value of their directory listing
– Create a recurring income stream through excellent customer service

These are valuable skills used by professionals in sales, banking, insurance, real estate, consulting, fundraising, and business development.

Residual Income Examples

Year One
– Businesses recruited: 250
– Commission per listing: $30

Income Earned:
250 × $30 = $7,500

Year Two
Recruit another 250 businesses while renewing the first 250.

– New listings: 250 × $30 = $7,500
– Renewals: 250 × $30 = $7,500
Total Year Two Income: $15,000

Year Three
Recruit another 250 businesses and renew 500 existing listings.

– New listings: 250 × $30 = $7,500
– Renewals: 500 × $30 = $15,000
Total Year Three Income: $22,500

Building a Long-Term Portfolio

Imagine beginning the program at age 14 and remaining active through high school.

If young person recruit approximately 250 new businesses each year, their client portfolio could grow like this:

Year   New Listings       Total Portfolio       Annual Renewal Opportunity
   1        250                        250
   2        250                        500                         250
   3        250                        750                         500
   4        250                      1,000                       750
   5        250                      1,250                        1,000
   6        250                      1,500                        1,250
   7        250                      1,750                        1,500
   8        250                      2,000                      1,750

By the time youth graduate from the program, they could have built a professional portfolio of approximately 2,000 businesses and nonprofit organizations that they personally recruited.

More importantly, youth will have developed years of real-world experience in sales, customer service, relationship management, and business networking—skills that many adults do not acquire until well into their careers.

Learning a Lifetime Business Skill

Most people work only for today’s paycheck.

StreetsU teach young people how to build relationships that can continue generating income year after year while providing value to customers.
